How our carers can help
The Saffron Support team help our clients to access the community outside of their homes. We can help with a number of outings from social events to hospital /GP appointments.
We have a dedicated team ready to pick you up from your home and take you wherever you would like to go. The most popular destination are garden centres, Saffron Walden town centre, and local coffee shops.
Accompanied outing case study
We accompanied an individual to the GP surgery to support them with their annual flu vaccination then walked into Saffron Walden town centre for a well-deserved coffee and some retail therapy.
The individual we were supporting has been unable to walk this far in recent months so before we started taking them out and about Saffron Support management team spoke with the occupational therapist who arranged a wheelchair for outdoor use.
This has been life changing for the individual and enabled them to be independent again and has allowed them to do their food shopping weekly and the individual is able to pick their own food and browse around the store.
Supporting individuals on accompanied outings
Since the Covid 19 pandemic we have been supporting individuals with their exercise outside by going on small walks. One gentleman liked us to walk with him to the duck pond in Saffron Walden. Another liked to walk to the village rec and back to their home in Ickleton. We make sure that we all abide by social distancing guidelines and the appropriate PPE is worn.
Whatever the outing or occasion is, here at Saffron Support we are happy to help. It could be a hospital visit, dentist appointment, GP appointment, lunch out, a coffee or accessing the community.
