My name is Katrina. I have worked for saffron support for a few years now.

How I became a part of the team.
I had popped in to my local supermarket & I saw an ex colleague of mine from a previous company, she was smiling, she looped arms with me & it felt like we skipped down the aisle while she got the item of shopping she needed. I asked her where was she working to be this happy & she showed me her work logo on her tunic (Saffron Support). She said I should call them. We parted ways & went on with our days. I was terribly unhappy where I was working at the time for an out of town company that was too big & not enough personality.

I made that move, I contacted saffron support, had my interview & the rest was history.

I have always worked my way up
to being senior in previous companies & saffron support was no different in that way.

I joined as a carer & worked my way up to team leader.

I got the choice of choosing a day off during the week as well as alternate weekends off which is something I’d not had before in domiciliary.

When I look back now I feel like I have been here forever & cannot imagine not working for/with saffron support.

I’ve been asked quite a few times “why do you wear the same uniform even though you’re a team leader” my reply is because I’m proud of where I work & the people I work with. My uniform is like a shied. It’s not just a uniform, its a reminder that when I stand at someone’s front door preparing to go inside, shaking off the outside world, I’m standing physically as Katrina but emotionally as saffron support.

One of my daughters now works for saffron support too & is enjoying the journey.

I’ve always known that being a carer (at whatever level) has been a privilege, being a part of someone’s journey, being an extension of that individual, making sure their voices are heard & their needs listened to. But being a part of saffron support has given me another family. I get hugs from colleagues whenever I see them. We chat like we’ve always known one another. What would I do without them?… it doesn’t bare thinking about.

When I step over my lady or gents threshold I become their advocate, I’am a chameleon because I adapt to each & every individual that I go in to.
