Visiting Care is a rewarding career that helps make a huge difference in the lives of the people you care for. Saffron Support offers visiting care to clients who need an extra hand with social and physical activities.
While visiting care is a rewarding job, there are a few characteristics we look for in our carers to ensure they are a good match for our clients.
Saffron Support ensures that all carers listen to clients needs and make sure they are met in order to maintain a comfortable environment for the client. Calls will vary depending on the client so making sure you listen and are patient will help to ensure they are as comfortable as possible.
Keeping yourself and the working environment clean is crucial when looking after clients.
Saffron Support expects all their carers to be open to any task on the clients care plan. This can vary between Light housework, Medication administration, supporting with moving and positioning, personal care or making a couple cups of tea!
Our clients have our utmost respect and this is extremely important to us when carers are supporting them . Some tasks may be sensitive to the client so we must make sure they are respected, comfortable and calm when assisting them.
Saffron Support provides full training for a visiting care role as well as providing our carers with the opportunity to complete a level 2 or 3 diploma in health and social care.
As a visiting carer, you will be required to be over the age of 18 and have access to a car that you can use. Saffron Support will pay your mileage that you complete getting to and from your calls.
We give our carers the opportunity of selecting shifts that work for them, therefore giving our staff flexibility with childcare, school runs and other commitments. We do ask that all carers work alternative weekends.
Calls are usually as stated below:
8am – 11am Morning Calls
12pm – 2pm Lunch Calls
4pm – 6pm Tea Calls
6PM – 22:00 evening rounds.
10pm – 7am Night Calls
The gaps in these calls are usually filled out with cleaning, shopping or companionship calls. Your responsibilities for the calls will depend on each client you visit due to them all having different needs. Some of these calls may also be double calls, meaning you will be working with another carer to help support the client with more complex needs.
Saffron Support are a local built on a foundation of family values, we treat each and every one of our customers as a member of our own. Louise, Jodie and the staff have supported each other through difficult times like the covid pandemic in more ways than a usually work unit. Take a look at some of our staff testimonials below!
I can’t thank Louise and Jodie enough for the support I have received through work, helping me in both my professional and private life.
